RICHARD WICKINS
DIRECTOR
Richard is a co-founder of Shorewood Homes and his expertise is in land and planning. As a University of Reading graduate in Real Estate, he went on to qualify as a Chartered Surveyor whilst working in the development and land team of a global estate agency before forming Shorewood Homes. Calm and thorough, Richard has an eye for the detail, whether contractual, design or anything in-between. Away from the office he can either be found at home on the south coast or, when possible, weekending in a tucked away country hotel.
SIMON MACHOLA
DIRECTOR
Simon is a co-founder of Shorewood Homes and, with a degree in Civil Engineering, his expertise is in production and land. He has been responsible for the construction of many high-quality developments in the south, building beautiful homes for well-known housebuilders for the last 18 years. Tenacious and driven, Simon is a problem-solver by nature who will work tirelessly to achieve the goal. Local to Winchester, he very much enjoys the diverse gastronomic scene at the weekend.
TOM PENFOLD
HEAD OF PRODUCTION
Having gained a first-class honours degree in Construction Management, Tom combines his academic knowledge with excellent experience in the industry, having been working in a similar capacity for some very reputable firms in Winchester since 2010. His attention to detail and calm, amiable nature equip him very well to deal with the daily challenges of building superlative houses.
LOUISE SAFFHILL
OPERATIONS AND MARKETING MANAGER
Louise’s experience of the property industry comes from spending the last 16 years in administrative and marketing capacities for a range of companies incorporating a global estate agent, a media planning & buying agency and esteemed housebuilders both national and local. Involved now in the operational function of Shorewood Homes, as well as marketing, Louise is fully engaging her organisational abilities and attention to detail and enjoys nothing more than taking a red pen to a floor plan!
CONNOR DOSWELL
HEAD OF LAND
Connor began his career immediately upon leaving school in estate agency, where he spent the next 15 years, moving ultimately from sales into land. Positive and self-motivated with a very personable nature, Connor also has a competitive nature and enjoys most sport, with football (Saints!) being his biggest passion, whilst spending time with his young family, including dogs, is his favourite way to pass the weekends.
STUART GARNETT
HEAD OF PLANNING
Stuart has a degree and diploma in town planning and is a Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute. Having worked in local government, consultancy and for developers for over 23 years, on many complex development proposals, he has significant planning experience with a particular focus on residential, retirement, care and healthcare. With excellent attention to detail, Stuart has a successful track record of delivering commercially-focussed planning strategies. When not battling his way through the planning system he enjoys cricket, coaching football and socialising with friends.
MAX BLAKE
SENIOR LAND BUYER
With a first-class degree in Business Management, Max obtained some useful work experience in the building industry and consequently decided to develop his career in land buying. His approachable nature and organised, focused manner stand him in good stead to source new development opportunities for the business. A Winchester local, Max enjoys various sporting pursuits in his free time, including the gym, golf and tennis.
KAYLEIGH RYAN
ASSISTANT SALES MANAGER
Arriving at Shorewood as a conveyancer with 9 years in the property industry, Kayleigh’s expertise is in managing residential property transactions and she is skilled in drafting contracts, undertaking due diligence and coordinating with all parties to deliver efficient, compliant and successful outcomes. Recognised for her precision, professionalism and commitment to delivering excellent service, she now looks forward to working alongside buyers to ensure that their experience of choosing a Shorewood Homes house is as enjoyable and stress-free as possible! Naturally sporty, outside of work she enjoys various activities such as swimming, HYROX and Pilates.
OAKLEY PRESTON
FINANCIAL CONTROLLER
CIMA qualified, Oakley began her career in finance 7 years ago and worked for a major national housebuilder in various roles, culminating in Finance Manager. A fan of the outdoors, when she’s not conscientiously looking after the finances for Shorewood, she enjoys hiking and travelling with her family.
CATHERINE WARD
MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT
Catherine has been working in Finance for 6 years and is CIMA part-qualified. She has already worked for a variety of industries such as distribution, the motor trade and construction and, unsurprisingly, doesn’t have much free time whilst still studying for her exams. She does however enjoy reading – about something other than accounting!
TRISTAN RAMLER
FINANCE APPRENTICE
As he starts at Shorewood, Tristan is studying towards Level 3 AAT Diploma in Accounting. He has 15 months of experience working in finance roles but is new to the construction industry, which he is enjoying learning all about in situ. When not studying, he enjoys playing sport such as cricket and squash.
STEVE MUDIE
HEAD OF TECHNICAL
With almost 30 years in the industry to date, Steve started out with a BSc in Construction Management, which allowed him to begin his career in the construction industry as a Site Engineer and Site Manager on commercial / industrial projects. The role developed into Design Management and he has been in a senior Design / Technical role for circa 20 years, amassing extensive residential housebuilding experience across five to100+ plot sites. As is likely in such a role, Steve is focussed and diligent, with excellent attention to detail and a collaborative approach. He likes to test his hand at DIY projects and also travels with his family.
MATT KEMPSFORD
COMMERCIAL MANAGER
Avoiding all puns relating to the female vocal group, Matt holds three degrees including two masters, in Quantity Surveying, Finance and Economics. Since graduation he has spent 9 years in the construction industry, working for high-end housebuilders and latterly managing a 180-unit multi-phase site. Unsurprisingly, given his education, Matt has a methodical nature with strong attention to deal and he enjoys problem solving. Outside of the work place he enjoys attending any live sporting events and likes to play golf.
CHARLIE HILL
QUANTITY SURVEYOR
Charlie achieved an HNC in Quantity Surveying, before starting his career as an estimator for a subcontractor. He then progressed to working as a QS for a house developer and has clocked up 10 years in the industry to date. As befits the role, he is extremely calm natured and thorough, with a firm but fair approach. With a sporty nature, he enjoys the gym, running and football – and goes to the odd festival to let loose!
HELEN SAUNDERS
PROCUREMENT MANAGER
Having undertaken various roles within banking, sales and construction, Helen returned to university at the age of 40, where she obtained an HNC in Construction Management. Over a period of 15 years in the construction industry she held a variety of roles, becoming an assistant buyer before ultimately progressing to a senior buying role. Her tenacity and sense of humour, alongside her excellent people and negotiating skills, mean she is ideally placed in the role of procurement manager. When not procuring for Shorewood, she loves to take part in a good pub quiz.
RORY BEYNSBERGER
COMMERCIAL ASSISTANT
With a CIPS Level 4 apprenticeship in Procurement & Supply, Rory has worked for a couple of other housebuilders as Assistant Buyer, before coming on board at Shorewood. At work, his meticulous, considered approach helps him to keep the purse strings in check whilst away from his desk he plays the guitar and indulges in sci-fi movies.
JONATHAN FOX
ARCHITECT
Jonathan achieved a raft of qualifications including an undergraduate degree, graduate diploma and post graduate diploma in Architecture, as well as being registered with the ARB and RIBA (BA Hons DipArch PGDip RIBA), subsequently acquiring a wealth of experience in the industry. Honing a range of skills including traditional design, placemaking and masterplanning, Jonathan is equally as capable of dealing with pre-planning design as post planning construction detailing. When he isn’t Chairing RIBA South East or acting as Vice Chair of the East Hants Design Review Panel, he is an avid squash player and busy Dad of two.
ANDREW UWINS
PROJECT MANAGER
With 30 years in the industry, Andrew started out by gaining a First Class Honours Degree in Architectural Technology, before progressing through his career and climbing the ranks in senior Technical roles. He specialises in residential new builds and has extensive experience of both operational and development management, as well as strategic planning. Self-confessed “a little bit mad”, Andrew is nevertheless an approachable, old-school problem solver who loves to learn and is as much a team player as a team leader. With a love of outdoor pursuits such as off-road mountain biking, paddle boarding and running, he also indulges in Italian travel and cuisine with his wife Angela.
JAMES EYLES
SENIOR SITE MANAGER
With CIOB Level 4 in Construction Management, James has several years of experience in carpentry, before becoming an assistant site manager, rising to site manager in 2018. His motivation and enthusiasm, as well as thorough attention to detail and passion for quality, ensures that he is perfectly placed to deliver homes of the highest standards. Sporty by nature, he enjoys cycling, swimming and running, as well as increasing the office count of Saints’ fans.
HAMILTON ILLSLEY
SITE MANAGER
With A Levels in physics, maths and history and the CIOB Level 4 Certificate in Construction Management, as well as 10 years within the industry for well-renowned housebuilders (8 of which as site manager), Hamilton is an incredibly well qualified site manager. His optimistic, problem-solving nature equips him well for daily site challenges and his dedication and hard-working attitude ensure that the job will be done! His preference for the great outdoors extends to his free time, when he enjoys cycling, surfing and snowboarding.
RUSSELL KENT
SITE MANAGER
With an NVQ Level 7 Diploma in Senior Site Management and previously a member of the Chartered Institute of Builders (MCIOB), Russell has been in the construction industry for 15 years, many of which as a Construction Project Manager before joining Shorewood Homes. He is calm, collected, polite, driven and organised. Outside of work he loves spending time with his family, DIY projects, playing golf, surfing and eating out.

With over 11 years of hands-on experience in carpentry and 8 years in contracts management, Alex’s foundation in the trade has installed a deep appreciation for craftsmanship, precision and high-end finishes. Driven, detail-focused and motivated in both work and life, with a love for running and continual self-improvement.
WESLEY KING
CUSTOMER CARE OPERATIVE
Wes has been part of the building industry for over 20 years, having worked in building companies in both the private and rental sector, and holds various CSCS qualifications. He enjoys problem-solving, meeting the clients and resolving any issues. He is particularly interested in providing a high level of service so that the quality of the new home and living environment can ultimately be enjoyed. In his free time he enjoys motorsports, spending time with family and travelling.
NICOLAS STONER
DIGITAL CONTENT CREATOR
Currently completing a degree in Business Management and Marketing at the University of Winchester, Nicolas has also undertaken additional online training in entrepreneurship and digital strategy. He has kept himself busy gaining experience across business development, tech and project coordination within small business and startup environments, alongside employment in the online retail sectors. Driven, proactive and analytical, he has a strong interest in developing creative and efficient solutions, whilst being known for his adaptability and detail-oriented, collaborative approach. His hobbies extend from reading and cooking indoors to staying active outdoors though tennis and travel.
